Our Leadership

Mark Pankowski


Mark Pankowski brings more than 25 years of experience as an award-winning journalist, media-relations expert and crisis communications specialist.

Pankowski spent a decade as a journalist, working as a reporter and editor at The Orlando Sentinel, and as business editor and government editor at The Tallahassee Democrat.

He then joined Ron Sachs Communications as a Senior Vice President, leading high-impact communications efforts for such clients as Huizenga Holdings/Miami Dolphins, the Florida Medical Association and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Mark later became Senior Vice President at one of the nation’s leading crisis communications firms. There he led the firm’s media efforts, earning positive coverage in top-tiered newspapers, including the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Times and USA Today, as well as on network shows, including “The CBS Evening News,” NBC’s “Today” show, and ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Mark currently serves as a media-relations consultant for national associations, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, top universities, “green” corporations, leading financial firms and commercial real estate brokerages.

Mark is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Notre Dame.
Karen Pankowski


Karen Pankowski is a former award-winning newspaper and television reporter who went on to become press secretary for Florida's governor. She now serves as a media-relations consultant and writer.

Karen worked as a reporter for The Orlando Sentinel for five years before joining ABC-affiliate WTXL-TV as a reporter and morning anchor.

She later worked as a communications specialist for Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration. She then worked as a speechwriter for Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles before being promoted to the governor's press secretary.

Karen now serves as a media-relations consultant and writer for major corporations, nonprofit organizations and national associations.

Karen graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland.
